Ten sessions for professional exchange

ICEM 2026 brought together more than 200 delegates across 10 sessions for sharing experience, updating techniques and improving ophthalmic practice. The programme aimed to advance technology transfer and train young ophthalmologists with sound knowledge and practical skills.

Professor Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, said that over six editions the meeting had become a scientific forum connecting Vietnamese and international specialists, updating new achievements, sharing practical experience and helping transfer advanced ophthalmic techniques into Vietnam’s clinical context.

Training collaboration and international connection

Professor Ton Thi Kim Thanh, President of the Vietnam Ophthalmology Society, emphasised the need for substantive collaboration among training institutions, specialty societies and international organisations, linked to professional needs and patient benefit. The Society is ready to support training, knowledge updates, scientific research, professional networks and domestic and international cooperation.

At the meeting, a Ministry of Health representative presented the “For the People’s Health” commemorative medal to Professor Uday Devgan, recognising his contributions to training, technology transfer, clinical practice and international collaboration. The organisers noted that ICEM 2026 runs from July 20 to 22 and aligns with Hue’s goal of becoming a specialised medical centre for central Vietnam and the country.
