On March 22–23, Saigon Eye Hospital partnered with Carl Zeiss to organize the scientific conference “Advancing ophthalmology in the digital era with the Zeiss Medical Ecosystem” in Ho Chi Minh City.
The conference attracted more than 300 doctors and healthcare professionals from across Vietnam, affirming both organizations' standing in ophthalmology.
Leading clinicians joined from national and city eye hospitals, Saigon Eye Hospital, Nethradhama Hospital in India, Cao Thang Eye Hospital and specialist institutions across the country. Their shared goal was to advance Vietnamese ophthalmology toward international standards.
More than 20 specialist reports covered refractive surgery, presbyopia and cataract treatment. New clinical studies and treatment methods were analyzed through focused professional discussion.
Dr. Truong Cong Minh shared practical guidance for new surgeons performing SMILE and SMILE PRO procedures. Drawing on more than 160,000 successful refractive surgeries, he discussed standardization, common complications and safe responses.
Another report introduced the Phaco Quatera 700 platform and the Zeiss Cataract Workflow. The digital workflow reduces manual steps, shortens operating time and supports safer, more efficient cataract surgery.
A study presented by Dr. Le Nguyen Huy Cuong examined cyclotorsion compensation with OcuLign in Smile Pro astigmatism correction, comparing automatic and semi-automatic approaches for optimizing treatment axes.
Specialists from public and private institutions also discussed digital applications in glaucoma care, standardized refractive surgery and the use of AI in chronic disease diagnosis.
Ven Raman, Managing Director of Carl Zeiss Southeast Asia, emphasized that the partnership supports both professional quality and the transfer of new ophthalmic technology to Vietnam.
Dr. Truong Cong Minh described the conference as an international professional forum that encourages ophthalmologists to continually update their knowledge and techniques for better patient care.
The conference demonstrated the importance of knowledge exchange and the commitment to sustainable development in Vietnamese ophthalmology during the digital era.
